| FPID Flashing Portable Identification Device |
 |
The Flashing Portable Identification Device (FPID) is a flashing thermal infrared identification marker for day, night and low visibility operations including targeting, reconnaissance, covert tracking, personnel recovery, combat ID/thermal IFF, deconfliction, area beacons, and medical evacuations.
The FPID provides a flashing 3-14 μm thermal signature to assist in locating and identifying “friendly” assets. Marked vehicles, landing zones, troop formations and locations can be identified as friendly when viewed or targeted through both 3-5μm and 8-12μm infrared sensors and imaging platforms. FPIDs can be easily attached to personnel, buildings, vehicles, surface and air platforms and other assets.

| Description |
The FPID is a high-efficiency, low-power, flashing thermal emitter that provides a lightweight multi-spectral marking capability. The FPID generates a distinctive flashing thermal infrared (IR) signal that is visible to FLIR-type thermal mid and long-wave infrared imagers. The flashing signature is not detectable in near IR (NVG) or CCD TV sensors. The FPID is capable of operating in single or multiple emitter array modes depending upon mission requirements.
The FPID is quickly and easily deployed with Velcro-type strips, or pressure sensitive adhesive strips. The FPID system incorporates innovative patent pending flashing thermal infrared emitter technology that optimizes emission efficiency for maximum battery life. A programmable flashing thermal signal is distinctive and much easier to detect at longer ranges than constant-on thermal sources, especially in the cluttered thermally noisy environment.
